A Calling is an award-winning short documentary produced with Good Neighbor Productions for the Annenberg Foundation at the University of Pennsylvania. Narrated by Christiane Amanpour, the film pays tribute to journalists who lost their lives while reporting the news and to the colleagues who continue that work.
Drawing on archival images and sound, contemporary interviews, and profiles built from the voices and stories of people no longer living, the film creates a concise, emotionally resonant portrait of public service, courage, and loss. Featured participants include David Remnick and Jelani Cobb. The film garnered top prizes at the Los Angeles Film and Documentary Film Festival.
You can kill the journalist, but you can never kill their story.
