The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor tells the history of the Purple Heart and honors its recipients, preserving the stories of those who have been granted this prestigious decoration. Northern Light created media both for the Hall’s original exhibits and its major renovation. Overall, we designed and produced 4 films, 14 interactive programs, an audio program, and an updatable Welcome Sign.

For the Hall’s renovation, we created a range of interactive and linear media. “The Purple Heart Journey" interactives invites visitors to follow Purple Heart recipients from deployment to the day of the incident to their care and recovery. By visiting a series of four stations, each part of their journey is revealed through text, images, documents, and video interviews. Interactive artifact viewers provide in-depth information about artifacts in the gallery that show how the nature of care, weapons, and combatants have changed over history. Three films cover topics on evacuation, deployment, and sacrifice. The latter features video interviews with Gold Star family members. Other programs include an interactive timeline and a customizable Welcome Sign in the entrance area.
In the Hall's first iteration, our media included an eight-minute signature film that follows seven Purple Heart recipients as they reflect on their injury, their recovery, and what the Purple Heart means to them. We also created two interactive programs: one contains a searchable database of oral histories, while the second program allows users to explore a timeline about the history of the Purple Heart and conflicts in which Americans have served.
