The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum contracted Northern Light to create two media pieces for its special exhibition that commemorated the 75th anniversary of D-Day: D-Day: FDR and Churchill’s ‘Mighty Endeavor.'
The film Forged in the Fire of War celebrates the spirit of collaboration and friendship between Franklin D. Roosevelt and Winston Churchill. Stirring archival footage and the words of the leaders themselves combine in moments both poignant and humorous.

The Map Room Interactive lets visitors learn about the Normandy Campaign on three 65-inch touchscreens. In this content-rich program, users can track the day-to-day movements of troops across an interactive map of Europe and view related archival imagery and documents. They can also follow the actions of four major players—Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Dwight Eisenhower, and Adolf Hitler—to gain a deeper understanding of this historic operation.
Taking something like D-Day with all of our associated content and breaking it down in a cohesive engaging way was a major undertaking...But your folks and ours figured out a way forward, and the results...thoroughly excited us.
We also worked with the Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Educational Center to create two 65-inch interactive displays that help visitors have the best possible experience while in Hyde Park. The Visitor Center interactives provide visitors with key information including an event calendar, a map of the entire site as well as neighboring historical sites, and historical information about Franklin D. Roosevelt. The Library can continually update this program through a Content Management System. For a touch of fun, visitors can follow Roosevelt’s beloved Scottish Terrier, Fala, around a map of the former president’s favorite places on-site.
