The Mosaic Templars Cultural Center is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and celebrating African American history and culture in Arkansas. NLP designed and produced highly interactive and immersive media experiences that lift up Black leaders and culture and present stories of overcoming adversity.
An orientation film weaves the African American experience into the fabric of Arkansas. The unique theater immerses visitors with projections on fabric screens that wrap around the space. It features three native Arkansans whose narratives highlight different aspects of the Black experience across generations and regions of the state.
The central hub of the exhibit gallery features a large floor-projected map of the state. Touch stations around the projection bring up different stories and can simultaneously trigger data visualizations that dynamically animate across the floor map.

Throughout the gallery, NLP leveraged other unique media form-factors to engage visitors. A timeline interactive is embedded in an old-fashioned school desk. Visitors rotate a tactile radio-like dial to explore the music of Black Arkansas musicians. A stack of old TVs presents a dramatic multi-screen story on Urban Renewal and its destruction of Black communities. The Let Your Voice Be Heard interactive enables visitors to record and share a personal video. Through the Black+ interactive, visitors create a unique virtual quilt-square, which is then added to a larger community tapestry. Proximity sensors trigger audio soundscapes and environmental lighting effects throughout the gallery.
